About this watch
The reference 5130 marked the moment Patek Philippe brought the world time complication into the modern era. Introduced in 2006, it enlarged and refined the beloved mid-century Cottier design — a mechanism showing all twenty-four time zones at a glance — and gave it a case with real wrist presence for the first time.
The dial is where the 5130 earns its reputation. A hand-guilloché centre radiates beneath the twenty-four-hour ring, its day and night halves rendered in contrasting tones, while the surrounding city disc carries the names of the twenty-four reference cities in Patek’s unmistakable typography. Local time is read from a single centre-mounted pair of hands; every other zone is legible at a glance.
This 5130/1R-011 is the rarest expression of the reference: warm rose gold paired with the integrated rose gold bracelet, a combination produced in small numbers and seldom seen in this condition. On the wrist the bracelet transforms the watch — fluid, substantial, and unmistakably Patek Philippe.
The case is full and crisp with sharp definition to the lugs and hallmarks, and the guilloché shows none of the softening that comes with careless polishing. Inside, the calibre 240 HU — Patek’s celebrated micro-rotor movement with the world time module — is running strongly and winding as it should.
Accompanied by its original box and papers, this is a complete and honest example of one of the great modern travel watches.
